Now that summer finally arrived, lots of people in Khovd moved near the river to install their summer ger. We were invited to see how to do.
So, here are some pictures of the different steps :
1. First add the wooden frame. The floor, the wall and the door were already fixed when we arrived.
2. Then, you fix the support columns with the crown. With poles all around the ger, the crown keeps stable.
3. Cover of the ger: first put a net on the lower part of the ger, to avoid the moskitos to enter (only for summer ger).
4. Then, put a thin cotton fabric on the roof and the walls.
5. Add thick felt blankets on the roof and on the walls.
6. The cotton fabric and the felt must be well attached on the top of the ger.
7. Add a white impregnated canvas against rain, which covers the whole ger.
8. Fix everything well with ropes.
Well, basically, it's done, in about 2 hours !
The family has now a new house for the summer !

A visit of Khovd
Here are some photos of Khovd, somehow all with bad weather. But in general, we have a big blue sky everyday !
The main square and a khovd local hero. There are always 2-3 guys who can make photos in front of it. Very popular and as mongilian people love photos, there are also lots of people looking at the recent photos.View from our building on the flat area.

Sum guer of Sengedorj
We spent one night there, in our tent. The bus is there for 35 years. Sengedorj made a sleeping place and a kitchen of it !

The Swiss Library
I finish my work today in the Swiss Library. I could do almost everything I wanted and I hope that the local librarian (Muugii) will take care of it well ! It was a very interesting project, quite challenging when you have no material and a very old computer...
Well, here are some photos of it ! Just imagine that before, it was basically books on shelves without any organization....
As the library is a Swiss initiative and we had a lot off books about Switzerland, I gathered them in a special corner.

Moliere in Khovd
Why not playing Molière in Khovd? Sengedorj decided to direct "L'avare". It was very popular and lots of people laughed a lot.
And it was quite fun to see how Mongolian people would present a Molière piece. Just have a look to the costumes and make-up !
Ariuna (daughter of Sengedorj) as a blonde Elise withe her (real) lover Byambaa as Valère.
Sengedorj as Harpagon the avaricious and his real wife Gemma as Frosina.

Western Mongolia Theater Festival
Somehow, as there was a bad epidemic in Uvs, where the festival should have happen, it has been moved at the last minute to Khovd. We wont't complain !
The opening concert was particulary grandiose.
First, have a look to the dress of Ariuna, daughter of Sengedorj. She was the presentator of the evening.
Then, the local dance company showed us many different local dances and by the way how high they could jump.
Then, a couple of well-dressed (again) singers appeared.
Of course, Sengedorj sang with his famous khoomi-style. People really liked him and he had 2 encores.
The evening became quite intense when the orchestra came.
...well, some fireworks also helped
And finally, a diva dressed like Dalida closed the evening.
Now, the stage is enough warm for the actors !
